Sometimes its not what you can see that holds the most beauty, but what you cant. Silhouettes show the beauty of a subject that is hidden in darkness….be it a person, animal, building or other object. The illusion that it creates with light and dark is what truly cries out beauty.

Unexpected Delay In Blogs….

Sorry about not getting all my stuff together and up on here for you to all look at.

in between no net, no electricity and now a broken ankle i have totally been side tracked with my posting.

But………… This will change by the end of Sunday night (SA Time)

Hopefully i wont fall asleep too early tonight and i will get caught up as much as i can, even if i just post up millions of pics rather then my babble!

Highs and Lows of Cape Town

On Wednesday (19 Aug) after looking at the weather (Tuesday was miserable and raining all day) we decided to try our luck on Table Mountain.

After waiting in line for around an hour, we finally boarded the cable car and slowly made our way up to the top of Table Mountain.

Some nasty woman who thought because she was a tour guide with a group of 4 people she could be pushy and shove us out of the way

The views from this height of Cape Town are amazing! Not only can you see the beautiful water and all of Cape Town, but you also have the chance on a nice fog free day to see Robben Island.

After a walk around Table Mountain, and a really nice cup of Hot Chocolate, we made our way back down the mountain, getting one last view of Cape Town from that vantage point.

LOWS

We jumped in the car and headed off to Cape Point… This being the most Southern tip Of South Africa.

Along the way we encountered beautiful beaches and views of the ocean, some annoying road work detours, and quaint little ocean side towns.

It was one of these towns, Fish Hoek, that we experienced some unexpected visitors!

At the same time, Cam (my Brother) and I both yelled… WHALE!!!! It took about 3 minutes to get the position of the Whale pointed out to everyone else, but once we did, it was 'abandon ship’ or car, really!

We ended up seeing a pod of approx 5 or 6 Whales, and later learnt that there was an Orca Whale amongst the ones we saw as it became lost and since joined this pod.

Once the excitement of the Whales was over we continued along until we reached The Cape Of Good Hope/ Cape Point.

Yup… I missed my deadline of the end of the day… like… 2 or 3 days ago!

So…. Gimmie one more day and all the past blogs will go up, as well as pics of artwork and of the trip so far!!!

Just remember tho… I'm in South Africa, so EVERYTHING is on African time!!!

So I Suck at the Whole Blog Thing….

Ok, so I haven't really been posting stuff as often as i should…. partly due to the fact that i have been giving up on my slow ass net connection.. but as it is leaving everyone in the dark as to what I'm up to…. i will just have to put up with the connection and persevere!!

So basically…. by the end of today (South Africa Time) I will HOPEFULLY have everything caught up to date… oh, and some damn awesome pics too!!!!

Where in the World Is Table Mountain???

So, its 8 am in the morning, I'm sitting on the couch looking out the window of our apartment we are staying in and I seemed to have lost Table Mountain!!!!

Its a cloudy day today, and it has been predicted that there will be rain today and tomorrow.... as soon as I can get onto a stronger Internet connection, i will put some pics up for you all to see!

We went to West Coast National Park on Sunday, it is renowned for its vast Fields of wild flowers that are native to the Cape. Yet again i will have to post some photos up at a later time of the park, but photos do not show the brilliance of the colours of the flowers in these fields!

This National Park also contains various animals, we saw Eland, Bontebok, Springbok, Blue Wildebeest, Kudu, Cape Mt Zebra, Red Hartebeest, and lots of my fave........ Angulate Tortoise!!!

There are some awesome rock formations that are also in this park, its amazing to see the contrast of these rocks with all the vibrant colours of the wild flowers!

Talking about vibrant colours..... Yesterday (Monday) we went on a walking tour of the 'Bo Kaap' or the Malay Quarters. It is named the Malay Quarters due to the laws relating to Apartheid, where different residential areas were designated according to race and religion.

This separation of races into certain areas was ultimately to eradicate all black South Africans out of the city. The general division of this separation was basically divided in White and Non White... White: Dutch, British, Portuguese. Non White: Indian, Cape Malay, Cape Coloured, Hindu, Muslim/ Islamic and Black.

The Bo Kaap was predominantly made up of 90% of those of the Islamic faith, and 10% of other religions, or ethnic backgrounds. Today there is approx 70% of the Islamic faith, and 30% of other religions and ethnic backgrounds.

We are staying in apartments that are at the top of the Bo Kaap area, the benefit of this is that we can look down at all the brightly coloured houses that are in this area, we also have the chance to experience factors of the Islamic Faith. There are over 10 Mosques in the Bo Kaap, 3 of these broadcast the call to prayer over speakers that echo around the Bo Kaap.

The prayers are repeated at dawn, noon, mid afternoon, dusk and then an hour after dusk. We learnt that these times are never the same as they follow the course of the sun and moon to calculate their times.

Staying in this area, and learning about this faith and culture is an eye opener, and you discover that the opinions that western society have of this religion are rather bias.

ooook, so thats my little rant.. I'm going to go get a bite to eat now, and maybe put a jacket on because its really starting to get cold here now... dang rain!

The Day Before The Big Day...

No.. the big day is not my wedding day.... its the day before i board the plane to South Africa and Singapore.

Its a mix of excitement and nerves at the moment.. so im not quite sure how i should be feeling!

I managed to hook into a free wireless net port at the hotel, but its a bit dodgy, so soon as i get a better connection, i will be putting up some pics of the work i will be carrying with me to SA.

Thats right... 11 days i will be boarding a plane, and jetting off to South Africa and Singapore! Its going to be a trip filled with interesting people, and new experiances.. who knows what will be installed for me!

I am a young indigenous woman from the Kamillaroi mob of northern NSW.

I am proud of my indigenous heritage, and it is through my artwork that i am able to share my culture with others.

I am not only a visual artist, but have also been published in several poetry and short story anthologies.

The artwork that i do is not traditional in a sense, but it is also not considered as contemporary. It is my own blend of the two.

Well... thats basically a snapshot of what KTP designs are... Make sure you follow my blog to learn more, see artwork i currently am working on, and keep track of what i am doing!
